The first two days of the US Open will see highly anticipated matches including #8 Serena Williams vs. Maria Sharpova on Monday night and the US Open debut of Coco Gauff on Tuesday (“not before 3 p.m. ET”).
Evening sessions at the US Open will get underway with two star-studded doubleheaders on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. ET on Monday, Aug. 26 – six-time champ #8 Serena Williams vs. 2006 winner Maria Sharapova and five-time winner #3 Roger Federer vs. Sumit Nagal in Arthur Ashe Stadium. Meanwhile in Louis Armstrong Stadium, former champ #23 Stan Wawrinka faces Jannik Sinner and #10 Madison Keys plays Misaki Doi.
Earlier in the day on ESPN (starting at noon), those two venues will see three-time and defending champ #1 Novak Djokovic take on Roberto Carballes Beana, #2 Ash Barty vs. Zarina Diyas, #3 Karolina Pliskova vs. Tereza Martincova, #5 Daniil Medvedev vs. Prajnesh Gunneswaran, and two-time champion Venus Williams vs. Saisai Zheng.
A number of notable names will play on ESPN+, starting at 11 a.m. Key players in action include #7 Kei Nishikori, #14 Angelique Kerber, Eugenie Bouchard, Monica Puig, former champ Sam Stosur, #15 David Goffin, #21 Milos Raonic and Grigor Dimitrov. Americans playing Monday during the day include Sam Querrey, Jack Sock, Bradley Klahn, Jennifer Brady, Caroline Dolehide, and the all-USA matchup of #20 Sofia Kenin vs. CoCo Vandeweghe.
Tuesday at the Open – Osaka, Gauff and Nadal in First Round Matches
Defending champion Naomi Osaka will open play Tuesday on Ashe, followed by #4 Dominic Thiem and an evening doubleheader featuring #2 Rafael Nadal and 2017 winner #11 Sloane Stephens. Tuesday on Armstrong will see #8 Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Andrey Rublev, followed by matches with #4 Simona Halep, Coco Gauff (not before 3 p.m.) and an evening doubleheader with Victoria Azarenka and #28 Nick Kyrgios facing American Steve Johnson.
ESPN & the US Open
ESPN has exclusive live action to the US Open with more than 160 hours on television and 1,300 more streaming live on the ESPN app via ESPN+ and ESPN3. The daily action from the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center will culminate with the Women’s Championship on Saturday, Sept. 7, and the Men’s Championship on Sunday, Sept. 8, both at 4 p.m. ET.
