Actor Luke Perry Remembers Marge Schott on 10th Anniversary of her Death

On the 10th anniversary of her death (March 2, 2004), former controversial Cincinnati Reds owner Marge Schott is remembered by native Ohioan and “Big Red Machine” fan and actor Luke Perry. Of Cincinnati’s controversial sports figures, none got as much attention as Schott, a widowed car dealership owner who, in 1984, became the first woman to buy a Major League Baseball franchise. She was an owner “of the people,” who allowed fans to visit her front-row seat during games, but this SC Featured piece also shows a darker side, as in 1992 when former employees revealed her alleged racist comments.

Three-Week Pistorius Trial Coverage

ESPN3 will carry live coverage of the Oscar Pistorius trial for at least the next three weeks beginning Sunday, March 2 at 1 p.m. The South African Olympian and Paralympian will see his time in court for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
