- ESPN The Magazine and The Undefeated Collaborate to Win Four Awards
- The Undefeated Senior Entertainment Writer Kelley Carter Receives NABJ President’s Award
ESPN was honored with an industry-leading eight NABJ Salute to Excellence Awards on Saturday night at the 2019 National Association of Black Journalists Annual Convention & Career Fair in South Florida. ESPN awards at the prestigious annual event honoring exemplary coverage of African-American people or issues included four content collaborations produced by ESPN The Magazine and The Undefeated, the company’s content platform focused on the intersections of sports, race and culture.
In addition to its work with ESPN The Magazine, The Undefeated captured two additional awards, and The Undefeated’s senior entertainment writer Kelley Carter received the special NABJ President’s Award for her contributions to the organization and the craft of journalism, at large.
“I am enormously proud of The Undefeated’s staff, and proud of the range and originality of the work NABJ just honored,” said Kevin Merida, ESPN Senior Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of The Undefeated. “It’s inspiring to receive such recognition, including having one of our senior writers singled out for her contributions to black journalists.”
