ESPN and ESPN Deportes will combine to present a MLS Soccer Sunday doubleheader this week, October 21. Both matches will be streamed live on the ESPN App:
- Atlanta United, led by the league’s record-setting goal scorer Josef Martinez, host Chicago Fire at 3 p.m. ET
- Minnesota United vs. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and LA Galaxy at 5 p.m.
- Sebastian Salazar and Alejandro Moreno will host English-language studio segments.
Weekend of Zlatan on ESPN:
Sunday’s MLS telecast will culminate a weekend of content on the ESPN networks featuring Ibrahimovic, the Major League Soccer standout and international soccer icon:
- Friday – SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt (ESPN, midnight ET): Ibrahimovic’s one-on-one conversation with Scott Van Pelt;
- Sunday – E:60 (ESPN2, 9 a.m.): Reporter Sam Borden profiles Ibrahimovic, one of international soccer’s most accomplished stars, who is as outspoken as he is prolific at goal scoring. “I make haters become my fan,” Ibrahimovic tells Borden;
- Sunday – LA Galaxy at Minnesota United (ESPN/ESPN Deportes, 5 p.m.): Adrian Healey and Taylor Twellman will call the match from Minneapolis. Roger Valdivieso and Herculez Gomez will handle ESPN Deportes’ Spanish-language commentary.
ESPN/ESPN Deportes MLS Soccer Sunday Doubleheader:
- Atlanta can earn the coveted Supporters’ Shield – best record in the regular season – and home field advantage throughout the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs with a victory Sunday
- A win or draw Sunday will put Atlanta United just one victory away from a 2019 CONCACAF Champions League berth
- Ibrahimovic, MLS’s second-leading goal-scorer, leads LA Galaxy against Minnesota United in a must-win match for a berth in the playoffs
- LA Galaxy features one of the league’s most star-studded rosters, including former and current national team stars Ibrahimovic (Sweden), Jonathan and Giovani dos Santos (Mexico) and Ashley Cole (England).

Sunday’s remaining nine Major League Soccer matches, most with MLS Cup Playoffs implications, will be carried on ESPN+ – four Eastern Conference matches at 3 p.m., and five Western Conference games at 5 p.m.:
- C. United looks to clinch a playoff spot with an away victory at New York City FC
- New York Red Bulls face Eastern Conference rival Philadelphia Union as they seek to top Atlanta for the Supporters’ Shield trophy over the two remaining match weeks of the season
- Montreal Impact (vs. Toronto FC) is in a race against surging D.C. United for one of the final spots in the Eastern Conference playoffs heading into the final two weeks of the season.
ESPN+, which surpassed one million paying subscribers in just five months, is the premium multi-sport, direct-to-consumer video service from The Walt Disney Company’s Direct-to-Consumer and International (DTCI) segment and ESPN.
