- ESPN to Present Every Matchup of the College World Series
- SEC Network and Longhorn Network to Provide Special Coverage with SEC Now and Texas GameDay live from Omaha
The Road to Omaha is paved as ESPN’s exclusive coverage of the 2018 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship concludes with the College World Series Presented by Capital One, beginning Saturday, June 16, and Sunday, June 17, on ESPN and ESPN2. For the 16th consecutive year, ESPN will provide coverage of every game in the College World Series, resulting in potentially 17 games over a 12-day span.
Three of the top five seeds remain in the bracket with No. 1 Florida, No. 3 Oregon State and No. 5 Arkansas all advancing following Game 3 Super Regional victories. No. 6 North Carolina, No. 9 Texas Tech and No. 13 Texas all took home Super Regionals titles on their home turf to earn a spot in Omaha, while Washington and Mississippi State, who face each other in the first round, punched their tickets on the road. Representing both ends of the spectrum, the Huskies are participating in their first College World Series, while the Longhorns are making their 36th trip to Omaha, the most of any team in CWS history.
The eight teams competing at TD Ameritrade Park represent coast-to-coast baseball supremacy with three squads from the SEC, two representing both the Big 12 and the Pac-12, and UNC flying the ACC flag in Omaha. These eight emerged from one of the most competitive postseason rounds in NCAA history, with the most winner-take-all games ever played in Super Regionals.
ESPN is the home of 24 NCAA Championships, with the College World Series closing out the 2017-18 college sports season.
Commentators Team Up at TD Ameritrade Park
Two commentating teams will make their way to Nebraska for the finale of the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, with play-by-play commentator Tom Hart, analysts Chris Burke and Ben McDonald, and field analyst Mike Rooney teaming up once again to call the action in Omaha beginning at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 16. Play-by-play commentator Karl Ravech, analysts Kyle Peterson (Bio Blast) and Eduardo Perez, and reporter Laura Rutledge are set to reunite under the lights on Saturday at 8 p.m., having called the CWS Finals a year ago.
Studio Shows Take Over Omaha
SEC Network is hitting the road and will provide onsite coverage from Omaha, as three SEC schools vie for the national championship. Beginning Saturday, June 17, SEC Now will be live from left field of TD Ameritrade Park with host Peter Burns and analyst Todd Walker. Coverage will continue throughout the College World Series, so long as a Southeastern Conference school advances.
Should an SEC squad make the CWS Finals, host Dari Nowkhah and analysts Burke and McDonald will hit the desk for SEC Now as the conference looks to add another title to its trophy case. SEC Network coverage begins with Friday’s press conferences with analysis from Nowkhah and SEC Network baseball analyst David Dellucci.
Longhorn Network will have its signature studio show in Omaha as well, with Texas GameDay and Texas GameDay Final bookending every Texas game. Host Lowell Galindo and analyst Keith Moreland will break down the action and storylines surrounding the 13th-seeded Longhorns and their record 36th trip to the College World Series. The first edition of Texas GameDay will be live from left field at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 17.
ESPN Gets Eyes on Every Angle
- UmpCam Returns: For the fourth consecutive year, UmpCam returns to ESPN’s CWS coverage. A high definition camera affixed to the mask of the home plate umpires will provide fans with a field-level view of the game from the umpire’s perspective. UmpCam will be used as both a live camera and for replays.
- In addition to the UmpCam, game officials will also wear microphones, providing on-field dialogue throughout the telecast
- ESPN3 Surround Coverage: For the fifth year, ESPN will offer an “ESPN3 Surround” presentation of every College World Series game. The experience made its debut on the College World Series Finals in 2014. ESPN3 Surround provides a complementary viewing experience to the traditional telecast with enhanced access to ESPN camera and audio feeds such as robotic cameras mounted in the dugouts, and on the screen behind home plate.
- All Day on the Dais: In addition to the full surround experience of every game, ESPN3 will also be the home of every postgame press conference throughout the series
- ESPN App Is Where It’s At: Every game from Omaha is available to stream via the ESPN App on connected devices.
- Béisbol En Español: ESPN3 will once again carry the CWS Finals in Spanish
Digital Access Goes Beyond the Dugout
- SECNetwork.com will go behind the scenes in Omaha, joining SEC players as they enjoy team activities and participate in the Opening Ceremony, and checking in with the SEC faithful as fans travel to support their squads.
