Federer Goes for Wimbledon History, Cilic Aims for Second Major Title in Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Championship

 

ESPN’s exclusive coverage of The Championships, Wimbledon will come to a dramatic conclusion with the Gentlemen’s Championship on Sunday, July 16, with potential history to be made:  No. 3 seed Roger Federer – who shares the men’s record of seven Wimbledon titles among his 18 Major crowns – vs. No. 7 Marin Cilic, winner of the 2014 US Open, on ESPN and ESPN Deportes at 9 a.m. ET.  An encore of the match will be aired on ABC at 3 p.m.  All the action, plus all the other televised courts, are available all day starting as early as 6 a.m. on ESPN3 and streaming live on the ESPN App.  Chris Fowler will call the match with John and Patrick McEnroe.

The championship match will be preceded by Breakfast at Wimbledon at 8 a.m., hosted by Chris McKendry.  The show will include:

“Wimbledon Surround” on ESPN3

ESPN3 – online and streaming live on the ESPN App – offers an additional feed – “Wimbledon Surround” – for the semifinals and championships.  It has three boxes – the primary TV view, plus two more, each focusing on one player.

Mixed Doubles Championships Sunday

Following the Gentlemen’s Championship, ESPN will present the Mixed Doubles Championship where the local fans will be assured of cheering for a champion of their own:  Britain’s Heather Watson (teamed with Henri Kontinen of Finland) will play Jamie Murray, brother of local hero Andy, teamed with Swiss Martina Hingis, who has added three Major Women’s Doubles titles and four more in Mixed Doubles since she was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2013.
