On Saturday, May 14, ESPN Radio will present The Undefeated on ESPN Radio special from 5 – 7 p.m., hosted by The Undefeated senior writers Clinton Yates, Jill Hudson and Justin Tinsley. The two-hour show, which will air live from ESPN Radio’s Bristol, Conn., studios, will introduce listeners to the digital platform, its vision and key highlights of recurring content that will be featured on The Undefeated, in advance of the site’s launch Tuesday, May 17.
Yates, Hudson and Tinsley will talk NBA Playoffs with senior NBA writer Marc Spears, who will discuss the playoffs diary with Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green, exclusive to The Undefeated. Additional highlights:
- Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) – Are HBCUs dying off? With admissions processes, cultural groups and campus awareness under the microscope, how relevant are HBCUs in 2016?
- Preview Spike Lee’s Lil’ Joints: Redemption Song – The program will explore Redemption Song, the story of Howard University’s 1974 NCAA soccer title-winning team who gained redemption after their 1971 title was stripped by the NCAA. On the program, Yates, Hudson and Tinsley, will discuss this story.
- Slavery in Pop Culture and Entertainment — The History Channel is rebooting Roots, the original TV mini-series adapted from the famous Alex Haley 1976. WGN America’s new series “Underground” – a fictional tale of a group of slaves escaping a Georgia plantation – has just been picked up for a second season. As important as our nation’s history of the original sin of slavery is to understand, The Undefeated on ESPN Radio will explore slavery as a vehicle for some of the most popular shows in the country.
- 30 for 30’s OJ: Made in America – Director Ezra Edelman will discuss the documentary, which will air on ABC and ESPN in June.
- The rise of black Marvel superheroes – Hudson, who wrote about cosplay and black superheroes, will lead the discussion about the new Captain America film, Black Panther and the rise of black superheroes.

Bios:
Yates joined the Post, the leading media company in his hometown in May 2007 as a local news editor for “The Express” – the free daily on dining, music, movies, arts, fitness, shopping and more in Washington D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia. At The Washington Post he covered local news, sports, politics, pop culture and anything he could get his hands on or head wrapped around. He is currently a writer for The Post’s popular “DC Sports Bog” and a WTOP News Radio commentator on an array of topics about the Washington, D.C., metro area from politics to pop culture. Yates weekday morning commentaries – “My Take” on WTOP News – have made him one of his generation’s unique voices in the District.
Hudson comes to The Undefeated from NationalGeographic.com, where she was director of cross-platform content initiatives. A longtime style journalist who has written extensively on international fashion, design and pop culture trends, Hudson worked from 2001-‘08 as the design and fashion editor at The Washington Post Magazine,, where she also penned a popular dating column. She spent four years with the Baltimore Sun as a general assignment reporter covering crime, welfare reform, immigration, arts and entertainment, and more. She also worked as a features writer for The Washington Post’s Style section, and as editor-in-chief of Washingtonian Bride & Groom Magazine.
Tinsley has an undergraduate degree from Hampton University (2008) and a master’s degree in sports industry management from Georgetown University (2010). His work has been featured in The Smoking Section, Rolling Stone, theScore, EBONY, The Sports Fan Journal and more.
