Twenty-Four Finalists Announced for The Home Depot 25th Anniversary College Football Awards on Thursday, Dec. 10

Show to Originate from the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta for the First Time

The Home Depot 25th Anniversary College Football Awards will air on ESPN, Thursday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. ET.  The show, relocating to the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, highlights the achievements of college football student-athletes in 2015.  Twenty-four players were selected as finalists for the nine National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA) awards given annually during the show. The nominees were announced during The Home Depot College Football Awards Nomination Special at 5 p.m. ET today on ESPNU.

Derrick Henry (Alabama), Christian McCaffrey (Stanford) and Deshaun Watson (Clemson) are each finalists for two awards. Alabama and Stanford lead schools in nominations as Alabama has three players nominated for four awards and Stanford has two players nominated for three awards.

Additionally, the John Mackey Award (Outstanding Tight End), the Rimington Award (Outstanding Center) and the Wuerffel Trophy (Community Service) will be recognized during The Red Carpet Special at The Home Depot College Football AwardsHunter Henry (Arkansas, Jr.), Austin Hooper (Stanford, Jr.) and Jordan Leggett (Clemson, Jr.) are finalists for the John Mackey Award; Ty Darlington (Oklahoma, Sr.), Landon Foster (Kentucky, Sr.) and Nate Sudfeld (Indiana, Sr.) are finalists for the Wuerffel Trophy; and the Rimington finalists will be announced on Monday, Dec. 7.

The Home Depot Coach of the Year Award, the Disney Spirit Award and the William V. Campbell Trophy (Academic Success) will also be featured in the December show. The 17 finalists for the Campbell Trophy were announced on Oct. 29.

 

2015 The Home Depot 25th Anniversary College Football Awards Highlights

The 25th annual awards show  –  hosted by ESPN’s Chris Fowler, and joined by Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Tom Rinaldi and Samantha Ponder  – will originate for the first time from the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
