ESPN College GameDay Built by The Home Depot – college football’s longest running and most celebrated pregame show – will make its third-ever stop on the campus of the University of Utah on Saturday, Oct. 10. The Emmy Award-winning show – airing Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon on ESPN from Presidents Circle – is the precursor for the ESPN College Football presented by Capital One matchup between No. 5 Utah and No. 23 California at 10 p.m. Dave Pasch, Brian Griese and Tom Luginbill will have the call of the game.
Host Rece Davis – in his first season at the College GameDay desk – is joined by analysts Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, Desmond Howard and David Pollack, as well as contributors Samantha Ponder, Tom Rinaldi, George Whitfield and Gene Wojciechowski.
College Football Live will originate from the College GameDay set Friday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. on ESPN with Ponder, Howard and Pollack at the desk.
College GameDay Fun Facts:
- Corso has now lost his last four headgear picks. The last time Corso had a losing streak of at least four games was in 2002 when he had a six-game slide.
- This is the third trip to Salt Lake City for GameDay – the first was in 2004 when the Utes beat BYU in their undefeated season under Urban Meyer and the other came in 2010 when TCU beat Utah 47-7. Utah also has been the road team at one GameDay site game, losing 55-28 at TCU in 2009.
- Corso is 1-0 when picking Utah and 2-0 when picking against Utah.
- This is the third time Cal has been at a GameDay The Bears are 1-1 – beating Oregon 31-24 at Autzen Stadium in 2007 and losing to No. 1 USC 23-17 at the Coliseum in 2004.
- Corso has never picked Cal and is 1-1 when picking against the Bears. If he picks Cal, it would be the 53rd different mascot head he has donned.
- This is the second time since the show has travelled each week that GameDay has not been to the site of a game featuring the No. 1 ranked team within the first six weeks of the season (2012 the other).
- This is the second time in three weeks the show will originate from a Pac-12 campus and the second time in three weeks the show will originate from a Pac-12 game where neither Oregon nor USC were involved.
