SEC Network Takeover (#SECNTakeover) continues Thursday, July 9, with the South Carolina Gamecocks taking over the national television network for 24 hours. With the help University President Harris Pastides and Athletics Director Ray Tanner, the Gamecocks selected 11 marquee television events from the vault* to relive with fans. In addition, the school will air two original shows – Gamecock Insider and Gamecocks: No Limits.
South Carolina #SECNTakeover Schedule Includes:
- 2004 South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt (Baseball): Before they were back-to-back national champions in 2010 and 2011, Gamecock baseball held off threats from the Commodores in the last three innings to claim their first SEC Tournament title with a 3-2 win on May 30, 2004.
- 2012 South Carolina vs. Georgia (Football): The Gamecocks were in complete control of No. 5 Georgia in a 35-7 victory in front of a record crowd of 85,199 at Williams-Brice Stadium on Oct. 6, 2012. South Carolina’s defense was outstanding in helping the Gamecocks to their school-record 10th-straight victory.
- 2013 South Carolina vs. Kentucky (Softball): Facing No. 15 Kentucky in the first round of the SEC Tournament in Lexington, Julie Sarratt’s complete game effort from the circle and big offensive production in the third and sixth innings delivered the Gamecocks’ 6-3 victory on May 8, 2013, marking the program’s first postseason win since 2007.
- Gamecock Insider: This one-hour special created by Gamecock Productions brings fans exclusive interviews with South Carolina coaches and features on student-athletes.
- Gamecocks: No Limits: At the University of South Carolina, there are “no limits to what you will discover.” This feature takes viewers inside what makes the state of South Carolina’s flagship university great.
- 2010 South Carolina at Florida (Football): Marcus Lattimore’s 212 yards and three touchdowns powered South Carolina to a 36-14 win at No. 24 Florida on Nov. 13, 2010, delivering the Gamecocks’ first SEC Eastern Division title.
- 2015 South Carolina vs. Kentucky (Women’s Basketball): 1 ranked South Carolina faced its toughest test of the season in hosting No. 10 Kentucky on Jan. 11, 2015, and the Gamecock defense overpowered the Wildcats in a 68-60 victory witnessed by a rowdy 17,156 fans at Colonial Life Arena.
- 2010 South Carolina vs. Kentucky (Men’s Basketball): The Gamecocks out-worked top-ranked Kentucky on both ends of the floor to post their first ever win over a No. 1 team, a 68-62 decision that left the crowd at Colonial Life Arena storming the floor.
- 2013 South Carolina vs. Clemson (Football): Turning three turnovers into touchdowns, No. 9 South Carolina scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to claim a 31-17 win over No. 4 Clemson on Nov. 30, 2013, at Williams-Brice Stadium, marking the Gamecocks’ fifth-straight win over their archrival.
- 2014 South Carolina vs. Florida (Women’s Soccer): South Carolina freshman Savannah McCaskill buried a header off a corner kick in the final three minutes to deliver a 3-2 win over No. 5 Florida, the program’s first win over a top-5 team since 2007.
- 2013 South Carolina vs. Michigan (Football): Known largely for “The Hit,” the 2013 Outback Bowl capped the Gamecocks’ 2012 season as the second straight with a school-record 11 victories. South Carolina’s 33-28 win over Michigan on Jan. 1, 2013, was impacted by Jadeveon Clowney’s fumble-inducing hit early in the fourth quarter but did not go the Gamecocks’ way until Dylan Thompson’s 32-yard pass found Bruce Ellington for a touchdown with 11 seconds to play.
- 2010 South Carolina vs. Alabama (Football): With ESPN’s College Game Day in town, the Gamecocks shocked the world with their first ever win over a No. 1 ranked team, slicing through the Alabama defense for a 35-21 win on Oct. 9, 2010, at Williams-Brice Stadium.
- 2015 South Carolina vs. Tennessee (Women’s Basketball): Powered by tournament MVP Aleighsa Welch and SEC Player of the Year Tiffany Mitchell, South Carolina continued its historic season with the program’s first SEC Tournament title with a 62-46 win over Tennessee on March 8, 2015, in North Little Rock, Ark. A three-point halftime lead ballooned quickly midway through the second half as the Gamecocks proved why their defense was one of the stingiest in the nation in 2014-15.

About the SEC Network Takeover
The SEC Network Takeover is a two-week programming initiative dedicated to airing programming selected by Southeastern Conference schools. All 14 schools will craft their own 24-hour schedule which may include classic games, films, ESPN original content and some school-produced content. In addition to delivering the ultimate the day of television for their fan-base, the takeover includes SEC Network’s twitter handle.

The Southeastern Conference and ESPN have a 20-year agreement through 2034 to create and operate a multiplatform network which launched August 14, 2014. The new network and its accompanying digital platform carry SEC content 24/7 and featured more than 1,000 live events the first year. The network televises over 45 SEC football games, more than 100 men’s basketball games, 60 women’s basketball games, 75 baseball games, and events from across the SEC’s 21 sports annually. Programming includes in-depth commentary and analysis in studio shows, daily news and information, original content such as SEC Storied, spring football games, and more. AT&T U-verse® TV, Bright House Networks, Charter, Comcast Xfinity TV, Cox Communications, DIRECTV, DISH, Google Fiber, LUS Fiber, Mediacom, PTC Communications, Suddenlink, Time Warner Cable, Verizon FiOS, Wilkes Telephone, and members of the NCTC, NRTC and NTTC carried the television network nationwide.
