Live access to ESPN networks and curated on-demand video now accessible on Windows 8 PCs and tablets
“ESPN’s relationship with Microsoft continues to create unique experiences for sports fans across platforms, and the WatchESPN app on Windows 8 is the latest launch from our collaboration,” said Raphael Poplock, Vice President of Games and Partnerships, ESPN. “Additionally, extending the reach of WatchESPN to a growing platform falls in line with our goal to serve fans wherever they consume content.”
The free app leverages features available on Windows 8 while also offering the same great content that fans have come to expect from WatchESPN, including the ability to pin the app with a Live Tile that displays the top live events on the Start screen, Snap functionality, immediate access to featured live and on-demand content, browse by sport, channel guide, and more. Once users download the WatchESPN app in the Windows Store, they will be prompted to enter their video subscription ID/username and password before accessing live content from WatchESPN.
The WatchESPN app for Windows 8 delivers a one-stop video destination for sports fans with live access to popular sports and fan-favorite shows including college football and basketball, Monday Night Football, MLB, NBA, major golf tournaments, all four Grand Slam tennis events and more. Additionally, curated on-demand video featuring the most recent and relevant content – including highlights and news clips from ESPN.com as well as short-form segments from programs such as E:60, Outside The Lines, SC Featured, Sport Science and others – will be accessible through the WatchESPN app for all users.
Current affiliated video providers for WatchESPN – available to 55 million households nationwide – include AT&T U-verse® TV, Bright House Networks, Cablevision’s Optimum TV, Charter, Comcast Xfinity TV, Cox, Google Fiber, Midcontinent Communications, Time Warner Cable, and Verizon FiOS TV (coming soon to NRTC members’ customers).
