Lee Corso, Mike Ditka, Herm Edwards and Lou Holtz Return to Hometown High Schools

ESPN’s SportsCenter begins a four-part series titled “Back to School” on Sunday, Aug. 28, that will feature four of the network’s former head coaches returning to their hometowns. The series of features will also be combined for an ESPNU special to air at a later date.

Cameras followed former head coaches and ESPN NFL analysts Mike Ditka (Aliquippa, Pa.) and Herm Edwards (Monterey, Calif.), and ESPN college football analysts Lou Holtz (East Liverpool, Ohio) and Lee Corso (Miami, Fla.), during their surprise returns to spend time with the current football teams at their former high schools. In addition, the coaches visited some of their favorite hometown spots and shared time with family and friends.

Notable. . .

Quotable. . .

“What these ‘Back to School’ features do is allow viewers to see where these guys got their start – both on the field and off – and provide our former coaches a chance to go back and interact with the community they grew up in.” – Glenn Jacobs, ESPN senior coordinating producer

“For me, the circle is complete now. The first time I played organized tackle football was (in Monterey). That was a long time ago. I come back now and I get to coach the team at a school that I played for.” – Herm Edwards
