Nominees for The 2011 ESPYs co-presented by Capital One and Castrol EDGE, hosted by Seth Meyers, have been revealed and voting has begun. The nominees and categories were revealed on Friday’s The ESPY Nomination Special, hosted by Michelle Beadle and Chris Connolly.

WHEN:
- Voting is underway and will run through 11:59 p.m. ET on July 9 for most categories.
- The winners will be announced during The 2011 ESPYs, televised LIVE Wed, July 13, at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN HD.

Fans will determine the winners by voting online at ESPN.com/espys, facebook.com/ESPN as well as on ESPN Mobile Web at https://espn.mobi June 24 through July 9.
The ESPYs gather top celebrities from sports and entertainment to commemorate the past year in sports by recognizing major sports achievements, reliving unforgettable moments and saluting the leading performers and performances. The 2011 ESPYs will recognize both sport-specific achievements, such as “Best MLB Player” and “Best WNBA Player,” as well as best-in-sport winners, such as “Best Team” or “Best Female Athlete” that pit nominees from different sports against each other. The ESPYs honor ESPN’s commitment to The V Foundation for Cancer Research, a partnership launched with the late Jim Valvano at the inaugural ESPYs in 1993.

OTHER 2011 ESPYS FACTS & FIGURES:
- We will see a new winner in the Best Team category, as none of this year’s six nominees have won the award before. The Boston Bruins, Dallas Mavericks, Auburn Tigers, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco Giants and Texas A&M women’s basketball team will compete for the honor.
- All four Best Male Athlete candidates are going for their first ESPY in the category. Jimmie Johnson, a three-time winner for Best Driver, could become the first auto racer to win Best Male Athlete. Dirk Nowitzki could be the first NBA player to win the honor since Michael Jordan in 1993. Aaron Rodgers could be the second straight NFL star to capture the award after Drew Brees won in 2010. Rafael Nadal would be the first tennis player to take home the Best Male Athlete prize.
- Lindsey Vonn could become the first repeat winner of Best Female Athlete since Annika Sorenstam in 2005 and 2006. She is up against Kelly Clark, Lauren Jackson and Maya Moore.
- All five candidates for Best Coach will be going for their first ESPY. Rick Carlisle of the Mavericks, Connecticut’s Jim Calhoun, Auburn’s Gene Chizik, Mike McCarthy of the Green Bay Packers and Virginia lacrosse coach Dom Starsia are up for the award. Calhoun is attempting to become the first men’s basketball coach to win the award.
- If he wins, Houston Texans running back Arian Foster would become the fifth straight NFL player to capture the Best Breakthrough Athlete award. He is up against Los Angeles Clippers’ star Blake Griffin, Jose Bautista of the Toronto Blue Jays and Auburn quarterback Cam Newton.
- Roger Federer has won an ESPY for six straight years. Nominated for Best Male Tennis Player, Federer’s streak is on the line against Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
- Landon Donovan, winner of six ESPYs, is up for Best MLS Player.
