ESPN/ABC Week 4 College Football Schedule: Conference Games on the Road for Both No. 4 Penn State and No. 5 USC

ABC’s Saturday Night Football Presented by Wells Fargo, the season’s highest-rated college football television franchise to date, will feature a top 5 team for the fourth time in as many weeks when No. 4 Penn State plays at Iowa (7:30 p.m.) as both teams open Big Ten play from Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa. The Nittany Lions’ prolific offense, led by Heisman Trophy candidate running back Saquon Barkley and quarterback Trace McSorley will be on the road for the first time this season. The Hawkeyes will be looking to repeat history as last season Iowa upset then-No. 3 and undefeated Michigan at home on Saturday Night Football. Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Maria Taylor will be on the call.
No. 2 Clemson, No. 5 USC and No. 6 Oklahoma State Fill 3:30 p.m. Slate
ESPN’s networks will showcase three of the nation’s top 6 teams in the 3:30 p.m. window as No. 5 USC travels to Cal (ABC), No. 6 Oklahoma State hosts No. 16 TCU (ESPN) and No. 2 Clemson hosts Boston College (ESPN2).
- The Trojans leave the LA Coliseum for the first time this season to face undefeated Cal in a series that dates back more than 100 years. Of late, the matchup been dominated by USC, with the traditional power winning the last 12 matchups between the Pac-12 schools. Dave Pasch, Greg McElroy and Tom Luginbill will be in Berkeley, Calif., for the call.
- The Cowboys’ potent offense hosts TCU, as both teams open up Big 12 play with undefeated records. Steve Levy, Brian Griese and Todd McShay will be in Stillwater, Okla., for the game.
- The now second-ranked Tigers, coming off an important road conference win at Louisville, head home to face Boston College. Clemson has won the last six matchups between the two ACC schools. Dave LaMont, Kelly Stouffer and Kris Budden will be in Clemson, S.C., for the call.
No. 17 Mississippi State at No. 11 Georgia Highlight Five Ranked SEC Teams in Prime Time
No. 17 Mississippi State at No. 11 Georgia (7 p.m. on ESPN) will feature the only matchup of ranked SEC teams in week 4, as Mississippi State looks to knock off its second consecutive ranked conference opponent (LSU) and Georgia opens up conference play. Joe Tessitore, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe will be at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. The two SEC teams highlight a prime time slate of ranked SEC teams on ESPN’s Networks:
- 25 LSU returns home to take on Syracuse (7 p.m. on ESPN2) as the Orange make their first ever trip to Baton Rouge, La. Anish Shroff, Ahmad Brooks and Julie Stewart-Binks will be at Tiger Stadium.
- 15 Auburn travels to Missouri (7:30 p.m. on ESPNU) as Auburn opens up conference play and Missouri looks for their first conference win.
- 20 Florida heads to Kentucky (7:30 p.m. on SEC Network) as both teams are coming off conference wins. The game concludes a tripleheader on SEC Network, with more details here.
No. 21 South Florida Plays on Thursday Night; No. 12 Florida State, No. 14 Miami on Saturday
ESPN begins the week with No. 21 South Florida hosting Temple on Thursday, Sept. 21 (7:30 p.m. on ESPN). Joey Galloway and Booger McFarland will be in the booth as ESPN continues to rotate analysts on Thursday nights. Dave Flemming will call the game and Laura Rutledge will be the reporter.
Overall, 15 ranked teams will be showcased across ESPN’s networks this week, including No. 12 Florida State hosting NC State (noon on ABC or ESPN2), No. 13 Virginia Tech at home vs. Old Dominion (2 p.m. on ACC Network Extra) and Toledo at No. 14 Miami (3:30 p.m. on ACC Network Extra).
