College Football Results in ESPN Being the Most-Watched Network on Saturday Night

  • ESPN and ABC Rank No. 1 and No. 2 in All Key Demos on Saturday Night; Up Significantly Year Over Year
  • ESPN and ABC Televise Five of Six Most-Watched College Football Games of Week 4

On the heels of a college football doubleheader, ESPN was the most-watched network in prime time across all broadcast and cable in all key demographics — households, persons 2+, men 18-34, men 18-49, men 25-54, persons 18-34, persons 18-49, and persons 25-54 – on Saturday, Sept. 24.  Additionally, ABC’s Saturday Night Football led to ABC being the No. 2 most-watched network across all key demos on the same night. Overall, the two networks combined to televise five of the six most watched games of week 5 across all networks.

SEC Doubleheader Generates Audience on ESPN

  • The first game of ESPN’s SEC doubleheader — LSU at Auburn  (6 p.m. ET on ESPN) —  delivered a total live audience (TV + streaming) of 4,212,000 average viewers, the network’s most watched game of the week and up 33% from last year’s comparable window (Texas A&M vs. Arkansas). The second half of the doubleheader, Arkansas vs. Texas A&M (9 p.m.), had a total live audience of 3,989,000 average viewers, up 82% over last year’s comparable window (USC at Arizona State).

PAC-12 and Big Ten Delivers on ABC

  • ABC’s Saturday Night Football featuring Stanford at UCLA (8 p.m.) had a total live audience of 3,825,000 viewers, up 59% over last year’s week 4 Saturday Night Football game (UCLA at Arizona). ABC’S television audience peaked at 5,578,000 viewers during Stanford’s game-winning drive in the fourth quarter (11 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.).
  • Saturday afternoon, Penn State at Michigan (3:30 p.m.) achieved a total live audience of 3,828,000, up 2% over the comparable window from last season (Regional Action: Virginia Tech at East Carolina or Western Michigan at Ohio State).
