WNBA: ESPN2 Doubleheader Sunday

A Sunday ESPN2 doubleheader showcases WNBA action featuring the Minnesota Lynx at the New York Liberty at 2 p.m., followed by West Division battle between the Phoenix Mercury at Los Angeles Spark at 4 p.m. The games have been branded “Hoops for Troops,” a league-wide initiative that honored military members on Memorial Day, and that will also honor them for the Fourth of July.

Minnesota is a full game out of first place in the West Division, and will face New York, which stands in last place in the East, but has won its last two games. Phoenix stands in first place in the West Division with six straight wins and holds a six game lead over Los Angeles.

Play-by-play commentator Ryan Ruocco and analyst Rebecca Lobo will call the game from New York, while Pam Ward teams with analyst Carolyn Peck for the game from LA.

A part of the Internal Communications team at ESPN, I began with the network in 2010 as part of the College Sports PR team. Always an avid sports fan and not an athlete – I grew up a huge fan of the Hartford Whalers, while also watching my brother compete at different levels. I became the manager of several high school sports teams and continued that hobby into college. While at Quinnipiac, I worked in the Sports Information Department, which led me to a summer internship at the New Haven Ravens, a AA baseball team, and an eventual job with the Athletic Communications Department at the University of Connecticut. After my five-year stint at Connecticut, I spent six years as Director of Communications at the BIG EAST Conference in Providence, R.I. before joining ESPN.
