WNBA Doubleheader Headlines Tuesday Night on ESPN2

The top two teams in the East Division – the Atlanta Dream and Connecticut Sun – will face off in the first game of an ESPN2 doubleheader on Tuesday, July 8, at 7 p.m. The Los Angeles Sparks will visit the Minnesota Lynx in the second game at 9 p.m.

Play-by-play commentator Pam Ward will team with analyst Carolyn Peck for the game from Atlanta, while Ryan Ruocco and analyst Rebecca Lobo will call the game from Minnesota.

Atlanta is the top team in the division, followed by Connecticut, which is four games behind. Atlanta’s Angel McCoughtry is fourth in the league in scoring, averaging 19.6 points per game.

The West Division battle between Los Angeles and Minnesota, will match two of the top players in the league: Maya Moore, who is first in the WNBA in scoring, averaging 22.8 points per game, faces Candace Parker, who is scoring 20.2 points per game, good for third in the league.

Also Tuesday, the WNBA will announce the Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star 2014 starters during the Sparks vs. Lynx telecast.  Starting lineups for the All-Star game — to be played Saturday, July 19, at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN – are determined by fan participation via the 2014 WNBA All-Star Balloting presented by Boost Mobile.

A part of the Internal Communications team at ESPN, I began with the network in 2010 as part of the College Sports PR team. Always an avid sports fan and not an athlete – I grew up a huge fan of the Hartford Whalers, while also watching my brother compete at different levels. I became the manager of several high school sports teams and continued that hobby into college. While at Quinnipiac, I worked in the Sports Information Department, which led me to a summer internship at the New Haven Ravens, a AA baseball team, and an eventual job with the Athletic Communications Department at the University of Connecticut. After my five-year stint at Connecticut, I spent six years as Director of Communications at the BIG EAST Conference in Providence, R.I. before joining ESPN.
