Tomorrow, Wednesday, July 2, ESPN’s exclusive live Wimbledon coverage will begin at 7 a.m. ET on both ESPN and ESPN2, one hour earlier than originally scheduled – a third day of “Cross Court Coverage” with two networks covering the action. The change is a result of a decision to start Wednesday’s matches on Centre Court and Court One at noon in London, one hour earlier than the standard for those courts. The change was precipitated by the rain that postponed matches on Saturday and Monday. ESPN3 will begin its presentation of TV courts at 6:30 a.m. as scheduled.
Wednesday’s key matches: Six Quarterfinals (two women, four men)
Centre Court (ESPN):
- No. 3 Simona Halep, the top seed remaining, vs. No. 19 Sabine Lisicki, a finalist a year ago
- Defending champion No. 3 Andy Murray vs. No. 11 Grigor Dimitrov, a highly regarded 23-year old
- A battle for the bragging rights of Switzerland, No. 5 Stan Wawrinka vs. No. 4 Roger Federer.
Court 1 (ESPN2):
- No. 13 Genie Bouchard vs No 9 Angelique Kerber, who eliminated Maria Sharapova on Tuesday
- No. 1 Novak Djokovic vs. No. 26 Marin Cilic,
- Big-serving Canadian No. 8 Milos Raonic vs. unseeded wild card Nick Krygios who stunned Rafael Nadal in four impressively athletic sets Tuesday.
