Longhorn Network to Air UT’s Greatest Athlete Competition

Longhorn Network, the 24/7 University of Texas network, will air a unique tournament featuring the University’s celebrated former athletes in a bracket tournament with fan votes determining who will be crowned UT’s Greatest Athlete. The tournament tipped off last evening on the special unveiling show The Bracket: UT’s Greatest Athlete and will continue over the next 20 days.

Below are details of the tournament:2014 Bracket

  • The Bracket: UT’s Greatest Athlete on LHN unveiled the bracket of 64 UT athletes divided into four regions: Bevo, Big Bertha, Tower and Smokey. The original program will re-air on Tuesday, May 13 at noon, 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. CT.
  • Weeknights at 10 p.m. Longhorn Extra will break down the bracket and debate the head-to-head matchups. Some of the athletes may be a part of upcoming shows and on-air dialogue.
  • Fan voting on LonghornNetwork.com will continue until UT’s Greatest Athlete Champion is ultimately crowned on Tuesday, June 3.
  • Over the 20 days of voting the bracket will consist of eight First Round matchups in each of the four regions, followed by Second Round, Sweet 16, Regional Finals, Semifinals and a Championship match.
  • Fan voting began last night on LonghornNetwork.com for the first region, Bevo, after the debut of The Bracket: UT’s Greatest Athlete.
