Inspiring Athlete Kyle Maynard on SC Featured Special

Inspiring athlete Kyle Maynard will be featured and an in-studio guest on the April edition of the monthly program SC Featured, which airs Saturday night, April 5, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN with four diverse stories of sports.

Host Jade McCarthy interviews Maynard, who was born with a condition that rendered him as a quadruple amputee but didn’t stop him from becoming a prolific high school wrestler and prominent motivational speaker.

The program will re-air a 2012 ESPN feature with reporter Chris Connelly documenting Maynard’s climb of Mount Kilimanjaro, but in the new interview with McCarthy, Maynard reveals what his next big project will be. He also discusses the message of “anything is possible” that he delivers in his motivational talks.

Also in Saturday night’s program: Tom Rinaldi reports on the lucrative, and sometimes dangerous, business of golf ball diving, and tells of the special bond between Alabama QB AJ McCarron and a young girl undergoing cancer treatment, with McCarron wearing a wristband from the girl in the BCS National Championship game. SC Featured also looks back at the failed NFL career of Tony Mandarich, the second overall pick in the 1989 draft, with reflections from ESPN NFL analyst and former Colts center Jeff Saturday.
