ESPN3 also to Present Two WTA Quarterfinals from Stuttgart

Rafael Nadal – the top-ranked player in the world and owner of eight titles at the ATP Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – headlines the four quarterfinals, all live on ESPN3 on Friday, April 25.  Action begins at 6:30 a.m., and Nadal will play the day’s third match, against No. 6 seed Nicolas Almagro, a fellow Spaniard.  Nadal, the “King of Clay,” is riding a 41-match winning streak at the event and is 42-1 lifetime there.  He has won the last eight times he played the tournament (did not play in 2010).

ESPN3’s quarterfinal lineup begins with No. 9 Ernests Gulbis of Latvia facing Teymuraz Gabashvili of Russia who shocked No. 2 David Ferrer in the second round.  No. 12 Marin Cilic of Croatia will play Kei Nishikori of Japan in the second match, followed by Nadal-Almagro.  The day’s play will conclude with Santiago Giraldo of Columbia against Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber, the No. 10 seed.

ESPN3 will also present live the semifinals, Saturday, April 26, at 7:30 a.m., and the Championship on Sunday, April 27, at 10 a.m.

WTA Premier Porsche Tennis Grand Prix

ESPN3 will present two quarterfinal matches from the WTA Premier Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany, Friday, April 25.  At 12:30 p.m. (or later), No. 9 seed Ana Ivanovic of Serbia will play Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia.  Not before 1:30 p.m., No. 5 Jelena Jankovic of Serbia will face Alisa Kleybanova of Russia.

Tennis’ clay court season will continue in Europe, including two more 1000-point events in Madrid and Rome, leading to the second Major event of the year, the French Open in Paris, starting Sunday, May 25, on ESPN2 and ESPN3.
