ESPN, Inc. – 46 Sports Emmy Nominations

E:60, SportsCenter Lead the Way; First Nominations for espnW.com
ESPN, Inc. received 46 Sports Emmy Award nominations for 2013 across its platforms (ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, ESPNU, ESPN Deportes, espnW.com and Grantland.com), it was announced today by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The winners will be announced Tuesday, May 6, in New York.
The company’s initiatives in enterprise journalism and storytelling led the way – six nods for E:60, four for SportsCenter, ESPN Films earned three nominations including one for the 30 for 30 documentary series and two for Grantland.com. ESPN Deportes gained four nominations including three for the first-ever Studio Show in Spanish category. Jose Ramon Fernandez is nominated in the first-ever On-Air Sports Personality in Spanish category. espnW.com earned its first three nominations for the Nine for IX series.
ESPN also earned two nods in the Live Special category, for the NBA Finals on ABC and for the Wimbledon Gentleman’s Championship.
ESPN garnered nominations in 29 of the 39 categories for 2013.
Overall, ESPN has won 153 Sports Emmy Awards in 26 years of eligibility. ABC Sports won 160 from 1980 – 2008.
