ESPN Deportes Dream Job: El Reportero Final Four Advance to Mentorship Week

Stakes get higher as the final four ESPN Deportes Dream Job: El Reportero finalists advance to Mentorship Week, in which they will join ESPN Deportes’ soccer shows for the week of March 10 through 14. Each finalist will travel to ESPN’s studios located in different cities to join their assigned show: Diego Arrioja to Nación, Gabriel Sotelo to Fútbol Picante, Astrid Méndez to Jorge Ramos Y Su Banda and Elimar Ugueto to Fuera de Juego.
During Mentorship Week, the finalists will benefit from the ability to shadow the shows’ most respected on-air talent and producers, sit in during editorial meetings to gain insight on what goes on behind the scenes and receive one-on-one feedback on current and previous assignments.
The finalists’ mentoring experience will culminate with the honor of appearing on their respective shows as part of a round table discussion at the end of the week. This assignment will provide them with the opportunity to continue building their fan base, not by requesting votes but rather by showcasing their know-how and providing well-informed contributions to the topic at hand.
In addition, all four finalists are expected to continue contributing their weekly online assignments and appear on #Redes for their Toque Toque segment on March 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET, while maintaining and ramping up their social media presence.
The finalists will each be tasked to document their entire experience through social media to further polish the necessary skills to make it to Brazil 2014, and to build excitement and anticipation for the finals for which the two remaining finalists will be announced on March 27. During the finals, the two remaining finalists travel to Bristol to appear on #Redes on Tuesday, April 15 and the winner will be announced on the show Wednesday, April 16 just after the airing of the Copa del Rey Final.
Launched on Nov. 3, 2013, this third installment of ESPN Deportes Dream Job: El Reportero provided sports journalists across the nation the chance to compete for the opportunity to serve as a social media reporter for ESPN Deportes in Brazil, alongside the network’s team of soccer experts. Different from the previous casting tours, this year’s search was driven by social media participation and supplemented by TV studio programs, the network’s top soccer talent, ESPNDeportes.com and ESPN Deportes Radio.
