In 1949, Cuba hosted the first Serie del Caribe, but after claiming seven titles in just 12 years it abandoned the tournament in 1961 when Fidel Castro banned professional baseball. ESPN visited Villa Clara’s home, “Estadio Sandino,” last month to meet Janet Moreno, the first and only woman to umpire in the Cuban National series.

ESPN Deportes will exclusively present the 2014 Caribbean World Series.
