Men’s College Basketball: Early Season Tournaments Fills Schedule
ESPN’s early season men’s college basketball tournament are underway starting Thursday, Nov. 21, with the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, Charleston Classic Presented by Gildan and the championship rounds of the 2K Sports Classic. ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3 have a full slate of games leading up to Feast Week Presented by Lowe’s (Nov. 25-Dec. 1) and the Thanksgiving holiday.
In addition, Tuesday night’s Old Spice Classic regional-round, top-25 matchup between No. 11 Memphis at No. 7 Oklahoma State at 8 p.m. (ESPN) will feature all-access segments.
- Memphis head coach Josh Pastner will wear a microphone during the game, while OSU head coach Travis Ford will be mic’ed during shoot-around Tuesday.
- Oklahoma State guard Marcus Smart sits down with ESPN analyst Jay Bilas on Monday afternoon for an interview that will be seen across multiple ESPN platforms.
Weekly Schedule Highlights:
- The Puerto Rico Tip-Off from San Juan on Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 21-24:
- Quarterfinal action includes Long Beach State vs. No. 14 Michigan at 5 p.m. on ESPN2
- Additional quarterfinal games are at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., on ESPNU, plus later round action on Friday and Sunday.
- The title game on Sunday,Nov. 24, at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
- Charleston Classic Presented by Gildan is also a three-day event (Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 21-24), ending with the title game Sunday, Nov. 24, at 9 p.m. (ESPN2);
- UAB takes on No. 19 New Mexico in the quarters on Thursday, at 3 p.m. on ESPNU.
- Additional quarterfinal games are at 12:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. (ESPN3) and 5 p.m. (ESPNU), plus later round games on Friday and Sunday.
- No. 6 Duke faces Vermont at home on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 6 p.m. onESPNU.
- The 2K Sports Classic Championship rounds from Madison Square Garden include semifinal games on ESPN2 between No. 18 Connecticut and Boston College at 7 p.m. and Indiana vs. Washington at 9 p.m. on Thursday;
- The title game will be played on Friday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. on ESPN2, following the consolation game at 5 p.m. on ESPN2 or ESPNU.
- The Basketball Hall of Fame Tipoff (Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 23-24) from Uncasville, Conn., features an ESPN3 semifinal doubleheader with No. 24 North Carolina vs. Richmond at noon and No. 3 Louisville vs. Fairfield at 2 p.m.;
- The championship game will air on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 1 p.m. on ESPN, followed by the consolation game at 3 p.m. on ESPN3.
