Men’s Basketball: Old Spice Classic and DIRECTV Wooden Legacy Field Top Teams in Early Season Tournaments

The Old Spice Classic and DIRECTV Wooden Legacy fields include several top-ranked teams and will conclude with the title games Sunday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., respectively.  Also during ESPN’s Feast Week Presented by Lowe’s the NIT Season Tip-Off championship game, consolation games from the Old Spice and Wooden Legacy fields and the four-team Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational are in action.

  • Several Old Spice Classic quarterfinal games Thanksgiving Day feature ranked teams: Purdue vs. No. 5 Oklahoma State at noon (ESPN2) and No. 21 Memphis vs. Siena at 6:30 p.m. (ESPN2).
  • The inaugural DIRECTV Wooden Classic includes two top 25 teams: No. 25 Marquette vs. Cal State Fullerton at 4:30 p.m. (ESPN2) and No. 20 Creighton vs. Arizona State at 11 p.m. (ESPN2).
  • The Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational begins Thanksgiving night with No. 19 UCLA facing Nevada at 7:30 p.m. (ESPN3) and Missouri against Northwestern at 10:30 p.m. (ESPNU), while Friday’s matchups feature Missouri vs. Nevada at 8:30 p.m. (ESPN3) and No. 19 UCLA against Northwestern 11:30 p.m. (ESPN2).
  • An intrastate matchup showcasing Florida State at No. 15 Florida convenes Friday at 7:30 p.m. (ESPN2) – a day prior to the football teams’ clash at noon (ESPN).
  • The NIT Season Tip-Off championship game will be played on Friday, at 6 p.m. (ESPN). The teams will be decided during semifinal play on Wednesday: Drexel vs. No. 4 Arizona at 7 p.m. (ESPNU) and Alabama vs. No. 6 Duke at 9:30 p.m. (ESPN2).

Rachel Margolis Siegal

A part of the Internal Communications team at ESPN, I began with the network in 2010 as part of the College Sports PR team. Always an avid sports fan and not an athlete – I grew up a huge fan of the Hartford Whalers, while also watching my brother compete at different levels. I became the manager of several high school sports teams and continued that hobby into college. While at Quinnipiac, I worked in the Sports Information Department, which led me to a summer internship at the New Haven Ravens, a AA baseball team, and an eventual job with the Athletic Communications Department at the University of Connecticut. After my five-year stint at Connecticut, I spent six years as Director of Communications at the BIG EAST Conference in Providence, R.I. before joining ESPN.
