One year after Hector Camacho was fatally shot in his native Puerto Rico, OTL examines how the “Macho Man’s” arrested adolescence and frequent drug use ultimately led to his tragic death. Reporter Pablo Torre looks back at Camacho’s turbulent life.

“I told Hector if he didn’t get his act together he could get killed. And he would tell me, ‘No, I won’t get killed because I’m Macho Man.’ I said, ‘Hector, it doesn’t work that way.’” — Angie Garcia, friend who became Camacho’s business manager

“I felt like being with him was like having another child. It just, he was never the father, the man, the husband.” — Amy Camacho, divorced wife of Hector Camacho

Leon Lett – The Thanksgiving Day Brain Freeze
NFL Countdown (Sunday, 10 a.m. ESPN)

Few Thanksgiving Day NFL games have been as memorable as the Dolphins/Cowboys clash 20 years ago when Leon Lett forgot the rules. In a rare sit-down interview, Lett reveals why he slid through the snow to recover a loose ball that eventually cost Dallas the game. Jeremy Schaap reports.

“If you go back to the game, there was a block earlier and Thomas Everett picked it up and returned it, and, so, for whatever reason, in my mind I thought, ‘It’s a live ball!’ I just lost it; I just had a brain freeze. Or a brain fart, whatever you want to call it.” — Leon Lett, on why he tried to recover the blocked kick

“Normally, he (Lett) wasn’t on the field goal team. When you’re in that situation and you’re trying to block the ball, you want your best athletes on the field.” — Darren Woodson, former Cowboys safety

Yo Adriana

Monsalves

Adriana Monsalve’s reaction when asked to serve as SportsCenter’s English-Spanish translator after Tuesday’s New Zealand vs. Mexico FIFA World Cup CONCACAF/OFC qualifying game needed no translation at all: “OMG”

Although she has been with ESPN since 2007 – first doing ESPN Deportes’ SportsCenter from Mexico City, then hostingNacion ESPN on ESPN Deportes from Los Angeles since 2011 – it was the first time Monsalve commented in English on the domestic version of SportsCenter.

“(I thought), I’ll be on SportsCenter talking about the sport that I enjoy the most,’” Monsalve said. “Growing up in Venezuela made me a baseball fan, however, in the last 10 years, I have fallen in love with the most passionate sport in the world: soccer. I had a lot of nerves because my day-to-day host role is in Spanish, however it is great to again enjoy the energy that SportsCenter has.”

Coordinating Producer Sandy Nunez said, “We brought Adriana in to offer seasoned background and perspective on covering El Tri. She has covered this team for several years as both former SportsCenter anchor (when she presented exclusive interviews with soccer stars Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham) as well as co-host of Nacion ESPN. She was instrumental in helping us translate Mexican coach Miguel Herrera’s live post-game press conference.”

The four hours between Nacion and SportsCenter served both Monsalve and Nunez well.

“She joined the SportCenter staff to prep earlier in the evening — Adriana, Neil EverettAlexi Lalas and show producers went over the game plan — and appeared in the pre-game coverage on the earlier SportsCenters,” Nunez said.
