College GameDay Travels to Evanston, Ill., for First Time Since 1995

ESPN’s iconic college football pregame show, College GameDay Built by The Home Depot, will make a stop in Evanston, Ill., and the campus of Northwestern University on Saturday, Oct. 5, for its three-hour show of features and analysis on ESPN at 9 a.m. ET. The set will originate from The Lakefill on the banks of Lake Michigan to showcase two undefeated Big Ten squads – Ohio State at Northwestern (8p.m. / ABC).

College GameDay last traveled to Evanston on Nov. 11, 1995, when the Wildcats topped Big Ten foe Iowa 31-20. GameDay also made a stop to Chicago’s Wrigley Field on Nov. 20, 2010, when Northwestern fell 48-27 against Illinois at the historic field.

Hosted by Chris Fowler, the GameDay crew consists of analysts Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and David Pollack, with reporting by Samantha Ponder, Tom Rinaldi, Scott Van Pelt and Gene Wojciechowski.

In addition, several studio shows will have live hits from Athens on Friday, including SportsCenter and College Football Live (5 & 5:30 p.m. / ESPNU).

Mike & Mike co-host and Northwestern University alumnus Mike Greenberg will re-visit the Evanston campus, Friday, Oct. 4, to serve as grand marshal of the university’s 2013 Homecoming Parade. He also will be an honored guest during the festivities planned for the Oct. 4-5 weekend celebration. Greenberg, and Mike & Mike co-host Mike Golic, will broadcast their show live from Northwestern’s Evanston campus Friday morning, as part of the third annual ESPN Audio Fall Football Tour.

Coaches Video: Hugh Freeze, Dan Mullen and Steve Sarkisian

College GameDay has been to many campuses since its first road show in 1993, but Ole Miss, Washington & Mississippi State are three the travelling studio show has yet to visit. Head coaches Hugh Freeze (Ole Miss), Dan Mullen (Mississippi State) and Steve Sarkisian (Washington) share their thoughts on why the show should make its first stop at their home campus.
