ESPN All-Access: Penn State Training Days

Fans will get an inside look at the 2013 Penn State football team with second-year head coach Bill O’Brien in a one-hour ESPN All-Access: Penn State Training Days on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

In addition, a four-part series of 30-minute specials will air on ESPNU Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 23, at 6 p.m. Also, vignettes began Friday, Aug. 16, and will run this week during College Football Live, SportsCenter and multiple ESPNU shows.

Series highlights:

  • Quarterback battle between true freshman and 5-star recruit Christian Hackenberg and sophomore JUCO transfer Tyler Ferguson
  • How Penn State adapts on the field to NCAA sanctions and fewer scholarships
  • Coach O’Brien’s coaching style and impact on the program
  • Senior guard John Urschel – team leader and accomplished mathematician
  • Inside team meetings, locker rooms, player’s dorms for all the intensity, drama and even humor that comes with training camp.

A part of the Internal Communications team at ESPN, I began with the network in 2010 as part of the College Sports PR team. Always an avid sports fan and not an athlete – I grew up a huge fan of the Hartford Whalers, while also watching my brother compete at different levels. I became the manager of several high school sports teams and continued that hobby into college. While at Quinnipiac, I worked in the Sports Information Department, which led me to a summer internship at the New Haven Ravens, a AA baseball team, and an eventual job with the Athletic Communications Department at the University of Connecticut. After my five-year stint at Connecticut, I spent six years as Director of Communications at the BIG EAST Conference in Providence, R.I. before joining ESPN.
