ESPN Networks Earn High Marks in Beta Research Corp’s 2013 Beta Research Cable Network Interest Study

In Beta Research Corp’s 2013 Beta Research Cable Network Interest Study, subscribers named ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and ESPNEWS among the top ten for high interest in digital basic, emerging, mid-sized and HD networks. Specifically, ESPN ranked no. 1 on high interest in HD networks among Men 18-34 and no. 2 among Men 18+ (62 percent), Men 18-49 and tied for first with viewers with a household income of $100,000 or more. Other highlights include:
ESPN2 – Among HD networks, ESPN2 ranked in the top ten for high interest among viewers with a household income of $100,000 or more (no. 3), 57 percent of Men 18+ (no. 6), Men 18-34 (no. 7) and Men 18-49 (no. 6).
ESPN Deportes – Among emerging networks, including Hispanic-targeted networks, ESPN Deportes ranked no. 2 for high interest among Hispanic Men 18-49 and more than two-thirds (68 percent) of Hispanic Men 18+. Of these two groups, ESPN Deportes also ranked second among all measured digital basic/mid-sized networks.
The percent of Hispanics with high interest in ESPN Deportes was 52 percent in 2013, up from 37 percent in 2012.
ESPNEWS – Among digital basic/mid-sized networks, ESPNEWS ranked in the top five for high interest among more than half (57 percent) of Men 18+ (no. 4), two-thirds (67 percent) of Men 18-34 (no. 2), Men 18-49 (no. 3) and Hispanic Men 18+ (no. 2).
Furthermore, people with high interest in HDTV services and watching TV on their smartphone or tablet are more likely to have higher interest in ESPNEWS than the total sample.
The Beta Cable Network Interest Study conducted 3,543 online questionnaires – 3,341 with adults ages 18 and over and 208 with teens – among a national sample of cable, DBS and Telco TV subscribers in March 2013.
