ESPN Deportes debuts its 2012-2013 season with an NBA Friday doubleheader showcasing four 2012 playoff teams with East and West Coast clashes.

In the first game of the night, defending NBA champion Miami and its its four superstars – Chris Bosh, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and new addition Ray Allen – take on Carmelo Anthony, last year’s Defensive Player of the Year Tyson Chandler and the New York Knicks as each looks to make an early claim to being the Beast of the East.

The City of Angels rivalry continues as the Lakers, which bolstered its roster in the off-season by signing Steve Nash and Dwight Howard, face Blake Griffin and the Clippers in the second matchup.

Manchester United (7-0-2) is on a three-win run, and is coming off of a thrilling 3-2 victory against league-leading Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Oct. 28.  The Reds have been an offensive machine this season, outscoring opponents 24-13 in nine matches. United forward and Dutch international Robin Van Persie leads the Premier League with seven goals. Likewise, Arsenal (4-3-2) has won its last three, and has proven to have a stingy defense, allowing only six goals thus far.  The Gunners will try to counter United’s offense with some star power of its own with Gerviho and Lukas Podolski.

Fluminense (21-9-3) boasts a comfortable lead in the Brasileirao, with a full nine points separating it from Atlético MG.  The Rio de Janeiro club visits São Paulo (18-4-11), which is has been posting strong showings of its own and sits fourth in the table.

UEFA Europa League

The UEFA Europa League continues play in the second legs of three home-and-way series. Spanish club Atlético Madrid can strengthen its lead in Group B with a win over Portuguese club Académica. In Group H play, Serbian club Partizan visits Internazionale at the San Siro, and will look to move out of the bottom position.

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints play host to Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football on November 5, at 8:30 p.m. Both quarterbacks have a history of memorable performances on MNF. Brees, who has won his last seven games on Monday night, threw five touchdown passes in one game (Nov. 30, 2009) to tie a MNF record, while Vick accounted for six touchdowns (four passing and two rushing) and more than 300 yards on Nov. 15, 2010.


Dominican Baseball

ESPN Deportes+, the new programming extension of ESPN Deportes and ESPN3 continues its exclusive coverage of Dominican Baseball. This week, Tigres del Licey and take on Aguilas Cibaeñas.

The league consists of six teams, each playing a 50-game, round-robin schedule with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs. The league’s champion advances to the Caribbean Series to play against the representatives from Mexico, Venezuela and Puerto Rico.
