ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU Earn High Marks in Beta Research Cable Subscriber Study

In Beta Research Corp.’s annual survey of cable subscribers, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU earned positive recognition across all audiences and within key demographics for the seventh straight year.
In the study:
- ESPN ranked as the top network in perceived value among all network viewers. ESPN has ranked first or second in six of the last seven studies. Among men 18+, ESPN ranked first with ESPNU and ESPN2 both represented in the top ten.
- Additionally, 22% of all respondents named ESPN among their top five favorite networks. ESPN has ranked in the top five favorite for the past seven years.
- ESPN ranked in the top two favorite channels among men 18+, high income households and those that viewed TV on a smartphone/tablet.
- ESPN ranked first in viewer satisfaction among all viewers. For men 18+, ESPN ranked first with ESPN2 and ESPNU both ranked fifth.
The online survey was conducted in June 2012 among a national sample of cable TV/telco TV subscribers ages 18+. The purpose of the study was to determine the quality, satisfaction and importance of basic cable networks.
