Golf’s World Long Drive Championship Finals to Air on ESPN, ESPN3

Some of the world’s longest-hitting golfers will battle it out in the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship powered by Dick’s Sporting Goods this week, and ESPN3 will present live coverage of the senior and open division finals on Friday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. ET.

In addition to three hours of live coverage on ESPN3, a 90-minute telecast with highlights from the event will air on ESPN on Saturday, Dec. 24, at 1 p.m. and on ESPN2 on Christmas Day, Sunday, Dec. 25, at 11 p.m.  The ESPN3 coverage and the highlight programs will also be available on computers, smartphones and tablets with the WatchESPN app and WatchESPN.com.

ESPN’s John Buccigross will host the coverage, with analysis from ESPN golf analyst and two-time U.S. Open champion Andy North and two-time national long drive champion Art Sellinger. ESPN’s coverage will make use of ESPN Ball Track to show the flight of the ball on drives and X-Mo for the analysts to break down techniques in super-slow motion.

The event, held at the Mesquite Sports & Events Complex in Mesquite, Nev., has evolved from the National Long Drive Championship, which began in 1975, and has grown into a competition that involves nine months of qualifying around the world with seven divisions of competitors vying for some $450,000 in prize money.
