College football is leading the way on Saturday nights. Whether on ABC or ESPN, the Saturday night college football telecast has been the number one program on television that night among households and all key male and adult demographics each of the first three weeks of the season. Highlights:
- No. 3 Oregon vs. No. 4 LSU September 3 on ABC.
- The broadcast was the most-viewed and highest-rated college football game of the first week with an average of 7,751,000 viewers, 5,308,000 households and a 4.6 rating.
- It was also the most-viewed and highest-rated program of the day, leading ABC to be the number one network of the night among viewers, households and all key male and adult demographics.
- Notre Dame at Michigan September 10 on ESPN
- With 7,541,000 viewers, 5,111,000 households and a 4.5 U.S. rating (5.2 ESPN coverage rating), the game is ESPN’s seventh most-viewed regular-season game ever and was the most-viewed and highest-rated rated sports event telecast of the day.
- With the telecast, ESPN was the leading network among households, viewers and all key male and adult demographics across broadcast and cable networks for the night.
- The game averaged more viewers than all but two of Notre Dame’s home games since 1996.
- No. 1 Oklahoma at No. 5 Florida State September 17 on ABC
- The weekend’s most-viewed and highest-rated college football game averaged 9,307,000 viewers, 6,608,000 households and a 5.8 rating.
- The number one show of the day led ABC to win the night among viewers, households and all key male and adult demographics.
- The broadcast is ABC’s most-viewed and highest-rated regular-season college football game since the Big 12 Championship on Dec. 5, 2009 12,693,000 viewers, 8,608,000 households and a 7.5 rating).
