ESPN’s Dari Nowkhah Named New ESPNU Host
Beginning Wednesday, July 27 ESPNU viewers will see a new, but familiar face on the 24-hour college sports network when ESPN’s Dari Nowkhah takes a permanent seat at the ESPNU studio desk in Charlotte, N.C.
Since joining ESPN in 2004 as an ESPNEWS anchor, Nowkhah has established himself as a college sports expert hosting College Football Overdrive, College Football Live and SEC Network studio shows, as well as regularly anchoring SportsCenter. Additionally, this past January, Nowkhah and Mel Kiper Jr. debuted ESPN Radio’s weekly Dari and Mel Show (Saturday’s 8 a.m. – noon ET).
“I’m a college sports junkie and to be a host on a network devoted entirely to college sports, well, that’s just a dream come true,” said Nowkhah on his new position.
“We are ecstatic to have Dari joining the ESPNU family,” said Dan Steir, ESPNU senior coordinating producer. “His knowledge and passion for college sports, combined with his ability to engage viewers are going to be a great addition to the network”.
Nowkhah marks the third ESPNU host in the network’s six-year existence. Houston born and San Antonio raised Lowell Galindo, who previously held the position, will return to his home state of Texas to anchor studio shows for the Longhorn Network, the new 24-7 University of Texas athletics channel.
