Bowden Rejoins ESPN as Analyst for SweetSpot Blog and ESPNLosAngeles.com

May 5, 2011

Former major league general manager Jim Bowden, who once worked as a baseball commentator for ESPN, has returned as an analyst for ESPN.com. Bowden will write blog entries as part of ESPN.com’s SweetSpot Blog Network and provide multimedia analysis across ESPN’s digital platforms. Based in Los Angeles, Bowden will also contribute to ESPNLosAngeles.com.

Bowden served as the senior vice president and general manager for the Cincinnati Reds and the Washington Nationals. In 1992, Bowden became the youngest GM in MLB history when the Reds hired him at age 31. The Reds finished in first place three times during his 10 years in Cincinnati, and he was named MLB Executive of the Year by Baseball America in 1999.

In 2004, after working at ESPN, Bowden became the first GM of the Washington Nationals, when the franchise relocated from Montreal to Washington, D.C., in 2005. He remained with the Nationals until the 2009 season.

Bowden will continue to co-host his “Inside Pitch” radio show on Sirius XM satellite radio.
