Historic rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona face each other twice in less than a week; unparalleled coverage of the two matches across multiple platforms

Continuing its extensive multi-platform coverage of Spanish soccer, ESPN Deportes travels to Spain to provide live television, radio and online coverage of La Liga and the Copa del Rey final. Historic rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona will face each other twice in less than a week – first on Saturday, April 16 at 4:00 p.m. ET to compete in La Liga’s El Clásico and again on Wednesday, April 20 at 3:30 p.m. ET for the Copa del Rey final.  In addition to the live broadcast on ESPN Deportes and ESPN Deportes Radio, ESPN3.com will also offer live coverage in English and Spanish.

PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS:

ESPN Deportes

  • Los Capitanes (Thurs-Fri 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. & Mon-Tues 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. ET) – The network’s commentary program will feature special reports with José Ramón Fernandez  throughout the week prior to each match from both camps;  
  • Jorge Ramos y su Banda (Thurs-Fri 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. & Mon-Tues 4:30 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. ET) ESPN Deportes’ signature soccer talk show will be broadcasting on location for both radio and television with co-hosts and soccer personalities Jorge Ramos, Hernán Pereyra and José del Valle;
  • Cronómetro (Thurs-Fri & Mon-Tues 7:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. ET) – Co-host José Ramón Fernández will be reporting live from Madrid  and Valencia for the news and debate program;
  • Fuera de Juego (Thurs–Fri & Mon-Tues 8:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. ET)  – The network’s international soccer program will offer special coverage with host Fernando Palomo and special reports by Martin Ainstein directly from Spain;
  • SportsCenter (Thurs 9:00 p.m. & 1:00 a.m.; Fri 11:00 p.m. & 1:00 a.m; Mon-Tues 11:00 p.m. & 2:00 a.m. ET) – ESPN Deportes’ flagship sports news and information program will feature extensive coverage from Spain during its editions leading up to the matches with special segments by Martin  Ainstein, Rafa Puente, and José Ramón Fernández;
  • On match day for La Liga’s El Clásico, ESPN Deportes will start coverage with a special edition of SportsCenter at 2:00 p.m. ET, followed by a LIVE pre-game Fuera de Juego: Special El Clásico, hosted by Ferndando Palomo and the analysis of Tato Noriega, José Ramón Fernandez, and Jorge Ramos and Martin Ainstein reporting from the field.  The live telecast of the match will be led by Jorge Ramos (play-by-play), Argentinean World Cup soccer champion Mario Kempes & Rafa Puente (analysis), and Martin Ainstein (sideline reporter). In addition, the network will premiere a new episode of La Liga Confidencial, featuring the story of Kaká at 8:00 p.m. ET.
  • On match day for the Copa del Rey Final, the network will offer all-day LIVE coverage starting  at 1pm ET with a special edition of Los Capitanes, followed by a 90-minute pre-game special of Fuera de Juego at 2 p.m. ET directly from Valencia leading into the match at 3:30 p.m. ET.  The live telecast of the match will be lead by Jorge Ramos (play-by-play), Argentinean World Cup soccer champion Mario Kempes & Rafa Puente (analysis), and Martin Ainstein (sideline reporter). Immediately after the match the network will air a special edition of SportsCenter at 5:30 p.m. ET, followed by Fuera de Juego at 6:30 p.m. ET. 

ESPN Deportes Radio

The only national Spanish-language sports radio network in the U.S., will broadcast both matches LIVE. Special programming directly from Madrid will air on Thursday, April 14 and Friday, April 15, and coverage of  the Copa del Rey final will be directly from Valencia on Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19.

Additionally, for sports fans not in front of a television but rather a computer screen come game days, ESPN3.com will carry the action of El Clásico and Copa del Rey Final live exclusively online in both English and Spanish.  On Saturday, April 16, the coverage of La Liga’s El Clásico match Barcelona vs. Real Madrid kicks off at 4:00 p.m. ET. Copa del Rey final’s live coverage on Wednesday, April 20 begins at 3:30 p.m. ET.
