Lago Wins the Inaugural Snowboard Best Method by Vote of the Fans

Aspen, Colo. – Friday night was a night of firsts for Scotty Lago, as he won his first Winter X Games gold medal by vote of the fans in the inaugural Snowboard Best Method.

“I am stoked,” Lago said. “Thanks to everyone for voting for me.  I couldn’t be any happier.  I went from a super low not making Slopestyle finals today, to winning my first X Games gold medal.”

The victory was huge for Lago, but the biggest victory may be the fact that Lago was even able to make an appearance at Winter X Games after breaking his jaw on January 11, while filming a snowboarding video in the backcountry.

“My jaw feels good,” he said.  “It is a little sore but it is all adrenalin right now, so I don’t feel it anymore.”

Ross Powers earned the silver medal and Chas Guldemond, who went shirtless for one of his jumps, earned the bronze.

New to Winter X Games, Snowboard Best Method features six riders will attempt to execute their best and most stylish method grab off the Big Air jump within a 10-minute jam format. This discipline is 100 percent fan judged, and their best attempt is voted in via text messaging.
