Ricardo Puig Joins the Network’s Flagship News Program
ESPN Deportes announced Ricardo Puig as the latest anchor to join SportsCenter, the network’s flagship sports news program. He will be making his debut on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 11 p.m. EST.
“Ricardo’s vast knowledge and experience in sports will provide valuable insight to the show,” said Rodolfo Martínez, Vice President of Production for ESPN International and ESPN Deportes. “His great personality and passion for sports will sure resonate with our sport fans who will continue to be informed and entertained by a great group of anchors. We look forward to Ricardo joining our team of ESPN Deportes, ESPN Dos and ESPN Latin America.”

Puig was born in Mexico where he began his sports career in 2000 as editor in chief at CNI Canal 40 in Mexico. For the past decade he has worked in both television and print publications covering sports news and games. He was the soccer co-editor at the Milenio/La Afición newspaper from 2003-2006 and later was the sports coordinator at the Excelsior newspaper until 2010. In television, Puig worked for ESPN as a reporter for Fútbol Picante, hosted Cadena 3 Sports Newscast, and co-hosted HBO’s Destino Deporte which aired in all of Latin America. For the past four years, Puig has also been a sports collaborator for Grupo Imagen.
