Extensive Multiplatform Coverage Leads Up to Each Exclusive BCS Bowl Telecast

ESPN’s first year of exclusive coverage of the five Bowl Championship Series (BCS) matchups – highlighted by the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game – will feature extensive multiplatform reports, features, news, highlights and more leading up to each game.

As part of a four-year agreement with the BCS, ESPN will provide exclusive worldwide telecasts, radio broadcasts, digital content and more for the five BCS games from January 2011 through January 2014. It will mark the first time ESPN has televised BCS games. ESPN Radio has broadcast every BCS game since 2000. ESPN3.com will simulcast ESPN’s telecasts.

In addition to televising and broadcasting the games, ESPN will provide extensive on-site studio reports and analysis across multiple shows and platforms, dedicated web pages for each bowl, re-airs of classic BCS games, international telecasts of all five games, encore presentations of the National Championship and more. ESPNU to Offer Extensive BCS Coverage
ESPNU will provide extensive coverage of the BCS including several shows originating from the site of the National Championship Game. Highlights include:

  • Bowl-specific spots capturing the fun and flavor of each BCS bowl.
  • Live post-game coverage following the Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl.
  • Special one-hour editions of Road to the Tostitos National Championship Game on Oregon and Auburn will air Wednesday, Jan. 5, at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., respectively. ESPN and ESPNU will offer encore presentations Sunday, Jan. 9 and Monday, Jan. 10.
  • A one-hour College Football: Bowl Stories on Saturday, Jan. 1, at 9 p.m. will feature a compilation of some of the best stories involving players and coaches from teams playing in BCS bowls that aired on College GameDay and other ESPN programs during the 2010 season.

Studio Coverage
ESPN will provide extensive news updates, analysis, features and highlights of the each BCS game across multiple platforms, highlighted by on-site shows and reports from Pasadena, Calif. (site of the Rose Bowl Game) and Scottsdale, Ariz. (site of the Fiesta Bowl and National Championship Game).

  • ESPN will televise special on-site editions of the two-time Emmy-Award winning College GameDay Built by The Home Depot leading up to each BCS game. A three-hour program will air from Pasadena for the Rose Bowl Game Saturday, Jan. 1, at 10 a.m. on ESPNU and continuing on ESPN at 11 a.m. One-hour pre-game shows for the Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl on Monday, Jan. 3 and Tuesday, Jan. 4, respectively, will begin at 7 p.m. and come from each respective stadium with segments from Scottsdale. Chris Fowler and Erin Andrews will host the show from Pasadena with analysts Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard. Rece Davis will host the show from Miami and New Orleans with analysts Lou Holtz and Mark May.
  • SportsCenter and ESPNEWS will provide daily coverage from the site of each game Jan. 3-10. On-site commentators include hosts Fowler, Davis, Brent Musburger, John Saunders and Mike Tirico with analysis from Herbstreit, Jesse Palmer, Craig James, Howard, Holtz, May, Todd McShay, Jon Gruden and more, and reports from Tom Rinaldi and Wendi Nix.
  • College Football Live, ESPN’s weekday college football studio show, will originate from Glendale for daily 3 p.m. shows Jan. 3-7 and Jan. 10, at 3 p.m. Saunders will host with analysis from Palmer and more.
  • ESPN will provide extensive on-site pre-game, halftime and post-game reports for each Bowl, including 30-minute shows leading up to the Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl beginning at 8 p.m. each night.
