“Stanford Steve” Coughlin

SportsCenter Commentator and Sports Betting Analyst
Steve Coughlin or ‘Stanford Steve’ is a SportsCenter commentator and segment producer on the midnight SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt. He also is a sports betting analyst, appearing on the daily ESPN sports betting program ESPN BET Live and as a cast member on College GameDay Built by The Home Depot.
Coughlin currently appears on the “Bad Beats” and “Where in the World isn’t SVP?” segments with Scott Van Pelt, and joins Van Pelt on his weekly SVPodcast. He also writes editorial content as an ESPN.com columnist, inclusive of a weekly picks column during the college football season and previously co-hosted a sports betting podcast during football season.
Coughlin also contributes to ESPN’s golf coverage as a betting analyst.
Prior to beginning work on SportsCenter in 2015, Coughlin worked in ESPN Radio for 11 years. He began his ESPN career as a production assistant in 2004 and eventually started working with Van Pelt and Ryen Russillo on their ESPN Radio show in 2009.
Coughlin grew up in Ansonia, CT, and attended Stanford University where he was a tight end on the football team.
