Brent Colborne

Vice President, Programming & Content Strategy
Brent Colborne was named Vice President, Programming & Content Strategy in November 2024, after previously serving as Senior Director, Programming & Scheduling since 2017. In his current role, Colborne leads the Content Strategy and Scheduling (CSS) team in Bristol, overseeing ESPN’s program schedule across all linear domestic networks and platforms. He is responsible for driving ratings, relevance, and revenue through strategic content scheduling, and manages streamlined communication with sport-specific Programming teams to coordinate close to 50,000 live events annually. Colborne also oversees the Format Analysis and Ad Standards teams, optimizing commercial inventory and ensuring compliance with ESPN’s advertising standards and guidelines to protect the ESPN and TWDC brands.
He plays a pivotal role in the planning and execution of Super Bowl LXI in 2027, collaborating across departments to deliver innovative programming and maximize audience engagement for the first Super Bowl in ESPN’s history.
Previously, Colborne was Director, Programming and Acquisitions in the College Sports unit in Programming, where he led content and rights negotiations with collegiate conferences, managed NCAA Championships, regular season collegiate Olympic sports, and ESPN’s high school programming strategy. He built key relationships with conference and school rights holders, evangelizing ESPN as a valuable media and distribution partner.
Since joining ESPN as an intern in 2005, Colborne has held several positions within Programming, Acquisitions, and Digital Media Programming, helping define and build ESPN3 and WatchESPN’s strategic direction. He led the ESPN3 School Production Team, increasing adoption of cost-efficient production models and expanding ESPN’s footprint in college sports. He was also an 8-year chairman of ESPN’s V Week Internal Committee, benefiting The V Foundation for Cancer Research.
Colborne is a team-oriented leader who thrives in collaborative environments and empowers individuals through inclusive management strategies. Outside of work, he coaches the CT Lightning U12 Travel Softball Team.
A 2005 graduate of the University of Connecticut, Colborne earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, a minor in Sport Management, was a 3-year manager for the UConn Football team and graduated Cum Laude.
