Iman Shumpert enjoyed a 10-year NBA career before shifting into broadcasting. He joined ESPN in 2025 and appears across several programs, including Hoop StreamsNBA Today and SportsCenter. 

Shumpert was drafted into the NBA in 2011 after three seasons at Georgia Tech. He was selected 17th overall by the New York Knicks. He began his professional career in New York, where he earned NBA All‑Rookie First Team honors in 2012. Over the course of his career, he played for multiple NBA organizations, including the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets and Brooklyn Nets. 

Shumpert won an NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. He concluded his NBA career in 2021 after his final stint with the Brooklyn Nets. 

Before entering the NBA, Shumpert played high school basketball at Oak Park and River Forest High School in Illinois, where he was recognized as a McDonald’s All‑American. He continued his development at Georgia Tech, where he served as one of the team’s key contributors, leading the Yellow Jackets in scoring, rebounding and assists during the 2010-11 season. 

Shumpert also appeared in the public spotlight outside of basketball, notably winning Season 30 of Dancing with the Stars in 2021. 

Now part of ESPN’s NBA coverage team, Shumpert brings experience from multiple NBA stops, postseason runs and a championship season to his analysis across the network’s platforms.
