Longhorn Network to air 10 Texas Soccer Games During 2014 Season

The 2014 soccer season is here, and Longhorn Network, ESPN’s 24-hour network devoted to The University of Texas, will air all UT home games exclusively from Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field. Coverage begins Friday, Aug. 15 at 7:30 p.m. CT, with a preseason exhibition game against Incarnate Word.

The regular season opener will be played Friday, Aug. 29 at 7:30 p.m. against Arkansas. Other highlights include a matchup with defending national champion UCLA on Friday, Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m., and Big 12 opponents Texas Tech, West Virginia, Kansas and Oklahoma State. LHN’s NCAA soccer coverage will also include two Stephen F. Austin games, as they take on Nevada on Aug. 29 at 4:30 p.m. and Arkansas on Aug. 31 at 11 a.m., both at Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field.

Glenn Davis, nationally recognized soccer sportscaster, will provide play by play for LHN, while Monica Gonzalez, sideline reporter for Major League Soccer and a former soccer player for the Mexico women’s national team, will fill the analyst role. Memphis Grizzlies play-by-play announcer Pete Pranica will fill in for Davis as needed.

UT Soccer is coming off an undefeated home season with an overall record of 12-6-2, placing third in the Big 12 Conference with a 5-2-1 mark. The Longhorns return 21 roster players, led by 2013 All Big-12 Conference selections Sharis Lachappelle, Brooke Gilbert, and Abby Smith, and welcome seven incoming freshmen.
