Women’s College Hoops: Final Big Monday Battle of Top Teams in Nation

ESPN2’s final women’s Big Monday presented by Verizon game of the 2013-14 season will pit top-ranked Connecticut at No. 3 Louisville on March 3, at 7 p.m. – marking the final time the two teams will meet as conference rivals in the regular season. The Huskies are seeking perfection for the fifth time in program history. Louisville has won 20 of its last 21 games with its only loss during that time to the Huskies 81-64 on Feb. 9.

In addition, ESPN3 will have coverage of the regular-season finale for No. 2 Notre Dame – – also in pursuit of perfection — at N.C. State on Sunday, March 2, at 2:30 p.m.  With Connecticut and Notre Dame still unbeaten, this could be just the second time that two teams enter the NCAA Championship without a loss.

In 1998, Tennessee and Liberty were both undefeated when the tournament field was announced. Ironically, the two schools met in the first round. The Lady Vols won 102-58 on the way to winning the national championship.

A part of the Internal Communications team at ESPN, I began with the network in 2010 as part of the College Sports PR team. Always an avid sports fan and not an athlete – I grew up a huge fan of the Hartford Whalers, while also watching my brother compete at different levels. I became the manager of several high school sports teams and continued that hobby into college. While at Quinnipiac, I worked in the Sports Information Department, which led me to a summer internship at the New Haven Ravens, a AA baseball team, and an eventual job with the Athletic Communications Department at the University of Connecticut. After my five-year stint at Connecticut, I spent six years as Director of Communications at the BIG EAST Conference in Providence, R.I. before joining ESPN.
