Gambling on Youth Football in South Florida

Sunday’s Outside the Lines will investigate the South Florida Youth Football League, where gamblers bet anywhere from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars on games involving players five to 15 years old. One former player told OTL he was only nine when gamblers started to give him hundreds of dollars whenever he had a good game because they had won off of his performance. Paula Lavigne reports.

Mike Danton: Stranger Than Fiction

Mike Danton’s promising NHL career came to an end when a failed murder-for-hire plot landed him in jail for almost five years. Danton claimed the intended target was his father, whom he says abused him when he was a child. The FBI believes the target was Danton’s youth coach, agent and surrogate father, David Frost. Now out of prison, Danton has turned his life around.  But the convoluted details of the murder plot, his murky relationship with Frost and the contentious connection with his family linger. Jeremy Schaap reports and has Frost’s first sit-down interview since 2004.

Inside the Horse Meat Black Market

A South Florida SPCA volunteer discovered that a descendent of the legendary Secretariat may have been in line to be butchered at an illegal slaughter farm. According to Richard Couto, thousands of horses are slaughtered every year behind closed gates in Miami, including former race horses. Jeremy Schaap investigates the illegal horse-meat trade.
